I've got a small integrated tube amp that I'd REALLY like to use more, but it's tough in the office because I need to be able to adjust the volume at a moments notice. I'd thought about getting a different CD player and just running it directly into an amp, but I love the sound out of this little hybred. (Menthor Integra - Tube line stage, 25w SS amp.)
Anyone know of a 'remote kit' that will add a motorized pot and a remote to it? |

You can get a remote kit from lascar electronics, and a motorised pot from ALPS. Thats a fairly cheap solution and very easy.

There's one at Altronics in Australia here: http://www.altronics.com.au/cat.asp?...p=426&id=K5026
Bit of info here: http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_30559/article.html Does normal, fine volume and a mute and works off Philips codes. Built one ages ago and doing one now but this time changed the volume pot. |

That's exactly what I was looking for...now where would I find a better quality pot?

What do you think about electronic potentiometer with an ordinary IR pilot as a remote control?
http://audio.lukar.net/forum_wpisy.h...mat=5920&all=1 The project looks like: - 1 x PGA 2310PA or 2 x PGA 2310PA for XLR input - source selector with preamps and buffers - PLED display - ATMega 8535-PI microcontroller with some additional options. Unfortunatelly the whole thread is in polish but some parts of it, like PCBs and schematics, are clear for DIYers worldwide. The project is led by veteran@op.pl |

Try an Alps RK27 series which should be easy to find in the USA. Here's a PDF.

I don't know how good they sound, but either Schuro or
Reichelt sell motorized Panasonic pots which you can get matched within 0.4dB between channels, at an extra cost, of course. |
