That small values are rather cheap anywhere....that is unless you cant do with caps that are not labelled "audio".

Id just order them from Farnell.

In the States, I believe Mouser ( www.mouser.com ) to be the best place for this type of low quantity order.

I haven't really checked Farnell nor RS, but Mouser, Digi-Key and Allied Electronics are my usual suspects when I'm looking for new (as in not from surplus) parts. MCM/Newark/Farnell/RS (InOne) are typically more expensive but they sometimes carry some hard to find components, at a price.

I ordered some stuff from www.mouser.com, and they charged me $5 for shipping. It wasn't even a big package. I ordered some resistors and caps. That's why I don't want to order from them again.

Well, I might not be in your condition, but in my view 5$ for shipping is not much. Look around and you'll see that it is a bargain, not to mention that Mouser does not have a small order fee. Then again, my orders are typically in the $100 range and shipping is always centered around $10. For orders containing transformers and heavy stuff, the shipping charges are quite a bit higher (around $35-$40).

I guess if youre down in that end of the scale youre gonna have a hard time finding anybody who will ship you anything. Most companies have a minimum limit for purchases. 5 USD seems very reasonable.

Farnell will charge the same. The only way out of that is if youre a relatively big client, then you can sometimes make them ship some small ithems in a letter for next to nothing.

An option just popped up though...how about Apex jr ??

I guess you could make him do the envelope trick

I ordered 24 caps, 24 resistors, 3 opamps, and a 4x6" board from mouser. Everything was packaged nicely in bags, but they could've thrown all that stuff into an envelope and ship it for a lot less than $5. The cost of the components was around $6, so $5 for shipping is a lot.

5$ for shipping is fine, and often a lot of these places have flat rates.. So its going to be 5$ or more no matter what..

If they had thrown it in an envelope there is a chance that it would be damaged.. automatic letter sorters can crush this kind of stuff.
