LM318 can be replaced but beware of if extra pins are used. Can you show us a schematics we surely can tell. In general, very fast opamps can cause problems in design which aren't made for these. You can also have problems with bias currents compensation, offset trimming, feed forward networks etc. many things can go wrong if you don't know what you are doing. A schematics is very helpful.
