Default supplies in NYC?

Anyone know of any good supply stores for transformers and chassis/cases in New York City?

Are you looking for surplus or manufacturers? I think Signal Transformer is based in Brooklyn. I don't know any surplus, but I'd love to find one.

Mostly, I'm looking for a hobby store or hardware store that sells something like Hammond chassis and transformers. I am new to the DIY hobby, and I'd like to actually see some of the stuff in person before I buy anything.

Sorry, don't know of any -- that's what I'm looking for too.

Wasn't wintermute one of the AIs in William Gibson's world?

I guess I'll try calling Hammond, to see if any hardware stores or hobby shops stock any of their products here in the the city...

yep, wintermute was indeed one of the AIs. Read that book first back in college, and have since read it at least 6 times.

"The sky was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel." I love the opening line of that book....really sets the entire stage in one simple line.

You might also want to ask leeds electronics in Brooklyn. Went out there the other weekend and they had a ton of used and NOS stuff, wouldn't be surprised if there were some cases burried in the mix...

If you find any other stores, I'd be very grateful for a Cc

Thanks for that link! I'll have to venture down to Brooklyn and check them out.

I'll definitely cc you if I find anything else.

I had been to Leeds couple of months back and picked up a small chassis ( 6" cube) and some heatsinks. He doesn't have many types of chassis but since his stock keeps changing, its worthwhile to go and have a look.
