I asked a question previously about how a sub plate amp affects the load seen by the satalites' amp. The reply was that the high level inputs are buffered so the amp essentially sees no extra load.
Well Ive been experimenting with a Pyle car crossover/eq with a pair of Linkwitz H baffle subs. They work remarkably well but Ive only been using GC amps at low volumn. The Pyle is connected in parallel with the main speakers and dont seem to create problems with the amp. Im now wondering if Ive just been lucky - is this not a good idea? Are the high level inputs on these things usually buffered also? Id really like to use this crossover setup with my Magnepans and hence, a 200watt amp with the crossover in parallel with the Maggies. Will it destroy the crossover or raise hell on anything else? I will eventually get a proper crossover/eq (dbx, berhinger etc) but this is cheap and fun. thx amt |
