My computer screens on indicator blue LED is way too bright!

How do I dim it down to only a "indicator" amount of light level?

can I color over it with a sharpie or something?

or would it be better to put a resistor in series?

its waaaaaaaaaay too bright. like blindingly bright

Black insulation tape, did it on my TV, it has a stupid blue light below the screen, good and dim now

I stuck a lil square of insulation tape over the led's on my monitors (sim-race rig) and my tv's as they were annoyingly bright.

Replace with a non bright opaque led or go the resistor way.

I put red tape over bright white power LED on new Virgin Modem.
When service guy came to investigate a fault it confused him though only for a moment.

A bit of good old black gaffer tape would extinguish the offending LED for sure.

Buy a roll of black insulation tape, the last one I bought cost £0.25 - thats a $0.32.
The only way to make that led dimmer and spend less is not to turn the damn thing on

I use fingernail polish. Get the cheapest you can find, like at the dollar store. Pearl white or silver works well and looks nice, tho you could use other colors. It often takes more than one coat.

Electrical tape. Failing that open the monitor, and insert a 1M resistor in series with the LED.
