replace attenuator on Golden Tube SEP-1SE

Hello all,

I have a Golden Tube SEP-1 SE preamp that I'd like to play around with a bit. See if I can drastically improve the sound, etc.

Step #1 is to definitely upgrade the attenuator. Golden Tube was notorious back in the day for having attenuator issues...I believe they went thru 4 different volume pots as people complained. I believe I have the 3rd one, tho I'm not sure. It's definitely not stepped, tho.

So, knowing relatively nothing about DIY audio, but being a reasonably competent engineer, I'd like some advice on how to go about upgrading that control.

Any recommendations for attenuators?
