Working on a MF A1 amp changing all the caps and the power transistors,the question is what is the proper way to solder the transistors ie collector to the case,as it would take abit of heat to solder them(worried about what the heat could do).I would have thought to use solder lugs to the mounts especially for the collector.At the moment they are soldered to the case.
Are there any advantages or disadvantages by doing this. Cheers |

Usual method is solder lugs under mounting bolts. I doubt whether you will get solder to take properly to the case. If you are concerned about reliability of connection, the you could use lugs under both mounting bolts (assuming TO3 style).
