Making Game Lights for Brother

I need to make a set of game-lights for my brother. It needs to be a thing where when one person presses their button, their light lights-up and also disables the other person's light from lighting, just as long as they didnt hit theirs first.

You get the idea.

What would be the easiest and cheapest way to do this. It is for a charity event, and I want to keep them well under their limited budget.

The only thing is they want 8 foot cords on the buttons, and then a light that is visible to the judge/host and optionaly visible to the audience.

This thing uses a pair of 4PDT relays that run around $8 a piece at radio shack.

The RESET button should be normally closed.

The PLAYER buttons should be normally open.

The extra contacts on each relay can be used to activate bells lights and judges indicators.

The concept is that a player button being pressed will cause the relay to activate and latch ON while simultaneously deactivating the other relay. Pressing the RESET button interupts power allowing the relay to unlatch.

I would recommend stuffing it in a project box with battery. I'm kind of tired so I wont go into too much more detail.

This is a "mushroom" switch at Newark electronics. Its very big and can be pounded or slapped with the hand (and under $10) :

If your budget is already blown, get some radio shack SPST NO push buttons and stuff them into bicycle handgrips.

By running the relays off of a battery, the extra contacts on the relays can be used to switch at whatever voltage is required. Judges indicators could also be run off of battery while the last set of contacts could switch 120 VAC for on stage indicator lamps.

Well its drawn a little funny, but I just rechecked it and I think it should work fine.

Sorry I drew the RESET as NO when it should be shown as NC, hope that doesnt cuase any confussion.
