Default new laser

wizards, i have a Denon CDR 1000 cd recorder. the laser went out. when i load a music disk or a blank cdmusic cd it takes a long time to boot. usually it comes back on the display as "OPC error" (optimum power calibration)
i did try several times for awhile to find a laser for it. called DENON. nothing for it. took it to some audio people and said the same. the laser is weak.
i read a little of the related threads for a frankenstein transplant. looks like it did not turn out so well and a lot of work. dont have any equipment.
can anyone here pull a miracle to get a new laser and the ribbon from the laser to the circuit board. i don't remember where i saw it but there was some talk that the ribbon goes bad.
