Hello
I am working on a project for uni, my group is making a passive infrared (PIR) light switch.
We a using a PIR controller IC from a company called MOS, see link to data sheet below.
Data sheet http://www.mos.co.za/pdf/data/m2008a.pdf
On the schematic there is an inductor that is connected directly to the mains supply. The problem is that I dont know what type of inductor to purchase, I am assuming that it would have to be some sort of mains rated type like you get for capacitors.
Could someone tell me if there is a certain type I would have to use and what it should be, whatever it is i hope RS stocks them.
This is the circuit schematic we are using. http://www.mos.co.za/pdf/apps/m2008a/m2008a3_smd2_sch.pdf
Thanks for any help you can give
Mark.

Mark,
It's just a choke to reduce conducted mains interference. You can use a 220 uH choke from RS as shown below. Acc to their website, it is on stock. If you need to switch more than 3A load, select another one from this series; the value is not that important.
