I have a small studio and I share it with someone else. We are worried that the elecetrics might now be safe because we're overpowering them.
Can anyone tell me what is the maximum wattage you can suck out of one plug socket before it gets dangerous? And what are the dangers?
Cheers

You can feel the cords, if they become very warm then you are at the limit.
It's not neccessarily the cords to your kit that will get warm. The connections inside the wall socket or other internal wiring can get warm and cause fires if the circuit is overloaded.
Having said that pulling 6 or even 10 amps from a socket should be safe, all things permitting. If in doubt, speak to an electritian, they should be able to check that all is well.
