I have some questions about these BJTs:

- Who was the original manufacturer and when did their production start?

- Taking the datasheets at face value, they are very fine devices in their class
(hfe linearity and value), but they are
hardly ever found in amp designs.
Any possible reason?

- Any idea where to order them for
small quantities in Germany or the EU?

Regards,
Peter Jacobi

my guess is General Electric may have originated them, Harris picked up much of that line as far as I can tell

with the soa boundary nearly passing through 500 mA 30 V they probably make good headphone drivers/op amp buffers - at <100 mA they reach thier Vce ratings and could be drivers for more substantial output devices in <50W amps

I intend to use up the proto stock at work but not to buy any new ones, more modern devices should have better soa and lower Cout but they do look substanially better than the TIP devices of the same era
