Default Looking for someone who can test some 2SJ74BL's from eBay...

As the title states, I'm looking for someone who can test some J74's that I recently purchased from Jim's Audio on eBay.

My simple tester identifies them as P-channel JFET's, but I'm looking for someone who can test them on a curver tracer and verify that they are indeed authentic 2SJ74BL's, or not.

I'll be glad to pay someone for their time and services.

One hundred and one views and no one is interested in testing some transistors...even for payment???

I would gladly help another member here, probably for free, if I had the appropriate equipment to do so.

Guess there's either a shortage of people here with curve tracers or perhaps the individuals with curve tracers are just too "busy" to help someone else out.

Both.

1) To begin with, in a Forum with

100 views is less than *nothing* .

2) probably less than 100 of those 300000 have curve tracers so your mathematical possibilities of one of them even being *aware* of this post are 1 in 3000 .

3) those who have invested time and money in getting one and learning to use it will mostly be Pros or quite advanced Amateurs, so *count* on them being busy.

4) how much are you willing to pay?
$100 ... $200?

I very much doubt anybody, not necessarily a busy Pro will be intersted in receiving a package, testing, writing specs , repackaging and reshipping stuff for, what? ... $10 .... $20 ....... which what the job is worth about?

Nothing against but just putting a little Real World perspective into it.

I have not seen any curve tracers for more than three years now. Those might not as spread as should. Plus, I think a more precise location might be helpful.

Maybe check this out:

DIY Curve Tracer for PC

For less than USD150, one can get a PC based curve tracer that does pretty much everything a professional curve tracer can do.

You can have a look at this thread:

Mystery 'sj74'? jfets

May be you can measure Ys (Gm?). Since 2sj74 is high gm so this value is hard to fake.

Why don't you post a good close up picture? There are some clear signs of fakes. No I won't mention them as the crooks would up their game.

One they used to use was showing the manufacturers boxes with labels saying "genuine Toshiba". Surprise suprise the real ones had no need for such a label.
