Hi,

Can someone tell me if this resistors are MOX or wirewound?

I bought them as MOX but they look wirewound to me...

Thanks.

It's not easy to identify the construction of a resistor from the amount of information provided. If these were mine, and I was curious, I'd open one up to see what inside. A "light touch" with a bench grinder ought to do it.

I just scraped a little of the coating. It's wirewound, isn't it?

Thank you.

WW. Clearly see the wires. The uneven construction in the first picture also are sufficient. MOX resistors are more 'even'.

While I'm strongly leaning towards wirewound, I'd remove a bit more because you could be seeing the end cap on one side and part of the metal oxide body.

Here is what MOX resistors look like without enamel:

Thanks for the link!

I scraped a little more and I can now see what looks like 4 wires...

Thanks for your answers.

It sure does appear to be WW. If you ordered them from a major supplier, they should replace them (all) with the correct parts. If private or Ebay - maybe, maybe not. If so, the seller may not know the difference.
Good luck!

Yeah, I'm gonna agree the shape definitely looks like WW.
