Thanks for the advice Sreten. Does it mean that Neo magnets can support a much thicker pole piece, and that the overall X-max of an overhung design can be greater than that of a ceramic/Alnico design? I will do some research for software simulation of speaker motor design.

Hi,

Neo designs tend to be underhung and have thicker polepieces
than ceramic or Alnico. The fact is once you start getting into
the details the idea of a home built driver it makes little sense.

Not that it can't be done, it can, but very hard for it to be
anything than a fairly useless curiosity with no purpose.

rgds, sreten.

Very nice! Is that a 2nd ring neo magnet on the outside?
Gonna cost a bomb but I love it.

I just realized that there are no one piece radial neo magnets available! Got to build it in arc segments...

no, it is possible to get sets of curved magnets that in unity forms a circle

but would be better to machine surface to use ordinary small block magnets

do not ask me where the magnet field is optimal, its just a silly drawing

Tinitus, that looks simple and efficient. What speaker motor simulation software are you using?

Maton, An Aura type motor by the looks of it. The X-max can be increased by using a taller magnet. Quite brilliant. Thanks for the ideas.

Hi,

And very poor use of the magnets, or any comprehension of any basic
magnetic principles, file under utterly pointlessly very wrong , not weird.

Its so cluelessly wrong in all respects, appallingly wrong.

Where are you getting such bad designs / ideas from ?

rgds, sreten.
