I've searched all around, and I’ll bet it's here (or somewhere on the net, but heck if i can find it)

I’m robbing parts from some computer power supplies I’ve had laying around :smash: , to use in an amp PS.

The connecter that the power cord plugs into is one of these parts. But I have a question about something that is hooked up to it inside the power supply.
There is a funny flat rectangular capacitor (yellow if that matters), that has a resistor soldered under it. That thing is connected across the hot and neutral leads. What does this do? And should I leave it there for my power supply?
I was thinking it might prevent some sort of power plug in pop or something but basically I have no idea. :clown:
