im not perfectly sure about the thermistor though...

there is some mnemonic for this...I THINK it's this:

NPN is 'Never Points iN

PNP is 'Points iN Perpetually

someone please correct me if i am mistaken. i'm not an EE guy, i just read a basic textbook recently.

Its a NPN transistor and a variable resistor or trimmerpot. Pot being short for potentiometer.
Page 61 a.f. in Horowitz. Have you searched H.??
