Switching on and off a Voltage Inverter
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone for the help they have been giving me recently.
I plan on using a 12V inverter to power some Op Amps for a project. I will be using Maxim's MAZ764 IC to do it and since it has a Shutoff pin, I thought I would take advantage of it. Can I use a Fet to do the switching as I have drawn it? I just put down the IRF540, are there any Fets in particular that work well in this fashion? Would a transistor or relay be better? I'm just trying to keep cost down. Thanks yet again. |

isn't a IRF540 a bit beefy ? Besides, it needs between 2 and 4 Volts between gate and source to turn on, usually this will work with TTL levels. Why not use a VN10 if you insist on using a mosfet ? A transistor (NPN) or relay will work fine to. |
