Are 50mW pots enough for most audio applications?

I'm trying to build up a collection of parts so I can finally start learning about and designing my own amps, filters, etc.

I was thinking 1K, 10K, 50K, 100K would be good values.

Mouser has some really cheap Bourns pots that are $0.67/ea, which is tempting, but I'm wondering if 50mW (what they are rated for), is too little for most applications.

Is it better to spend a little more for 1/4W pots for prototyping? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Just figure out the power... But, for most applications I'd say 50mW is enough.

Beware: Sometimes there's a reason why things are cheap. My guess is that these a adjust once and forget types of pots.

No they are not trimmer pots. They're rated for 10,000 mechanical cycles. That's pretty good.

Well yes I think for most things 50mW is probably okay, but I haven't done too much design on my own, so maybe there's something I don't know.
