Default KEF B169 T/S parameters

Hi,

I have two very nice KEF B169 (SP1432) 6*9 woofers that I'd like to mount into a TL line but can't the find the T/S parameter info anywhere on the web!

Any help appreciated ;-)

I know this is too late to help Dean but it may serve as useful to others looking for this info. This data was supplied by KEF Technical Support Services when I got my hands on a pair of these great drivers. They were extremely open and helpful, nice to see in today's very closed world!

B169 - SP1432 parameters

Re=5.5 ohms
Fs=50Hz
Qm=4.1
Qe=0.72
Qt=0.61
Bl=8.9
Mms=33.4g;

Hope this helps.

thanx matey ;-)

I got a slightly different value for Qts at 0.42 (the bloke I bought the drivers from measured a few parameters) but at least I can do some rough modelling now. I havn't built any speakers as yet but when I get to it I was thinking of buying one of those speaker measuring kits to get the the actual T/S values.

Cheers.

Hey Dean, so my rumour of your demise has been greatly exaggerated! I had thought that Jan to Nov would have been too long for the info to be of use to you. Glad it's still helpful. You must be like me, the plan takes quite a while, the build up to doing something with it takes much longer, then the build is a frantic short period of whirlwinds and dust before the gems appear.

One intriguing bit of background I have just picked up on is that KEF were pretty notorious for passing out of spec drivers on to the DIY market. If you can make any sensible measurements to check these figures for your drivers it would be useful to hear how close KEF's figures really are. I don't know if this would apply to the B169 as I believe KEF had stopped supplying DIY bits by the time they appeared. Ours could be questionable back door models though. Best idea is to measure basic parameters before the build and evaluate carefully afterwards I guess.

Good luck with the project.

Cheers Albertb. You pretty much described my working methods Interesting info about KEF. So I will defo measure the drivers. Not sure which kit to buy or make. The Dayton Audio DATS looks affordable but not sure if it is very accurate.
