Can anyone tell me how I should connect my "new" superior electric panel mount powerstat, type S-12008? There are 5 terminals I presume that I connect power to two of them and get adjustable output from another other two. But which pairs?
Thanks a lot. |

I also buoght one on ebay. But mine is a Superior Powerstat 3.1KVA, but I can't read the model number.
As for hookup, use your imagination. On mine, as you move around the coil clockwise as viewed from the back, the taps are numbered 1,5,2,4 with the wiper numbered 3. If you want your output to be from 0 to 100% of line voltage, Connect 4 to cold, 1 to hot in and 3 to hot out. If you want output to be from 0 to +- 130% of line in, hook 4 to cold, and 5 to hot in. (3 is always hot out). If you feel really brave, hook 2 to cold in and 5 to hot in then use 4 for cold out and 3 for hot out and you'll have -30% to 160% of line voltage. Just be safe and check output with a ac volt meter befor you connect a load. and If it humms too much (teach it the words), you may be saturating the toroid. |
