Hi Folks,
Has anyone tried building the hi voltage power supply shown on http://www.glassware.com/tubecircuit...Regulator.html I am trying to make sense of the circuit as i dont think it is very clear... Is it based on a single supply rail ? why is the 5K resistor on the source of the FET and not on the 0v side (i would imagine that the 5v feedback reference would be with respect to 0v).. if someone as the full article, or can nake sense of the circuit, please reply Cheers |

A similar circuit is in the Book by Horowitz and Hill, the Art of Electronics, fig 6.51 in my second edition. I believe the chip is powered from the source resistor + drain-source drop.

thanks for the reply chaps.. Well i built the circuit on glass-ware and to my amazment it works !!! For the application i'm going to use it for i need atleast 300v @ 6A, yep thats 1800W !! if i assume the load is 50R...
Cant buy FETs with that power so i'll need to cascade a few in parallel i thinks... as anyone tried doing this with FETs ? if so i'd like to get some tips on the best way of wiring them thanks |
