Graphic EQ Pots

I'm thinking of building this Graphic EQ project:

I have some 1K and 10K Linear slider pots lying around, would these work for the main sliders, or do I have to use 5K? How does the value of the pot change the circuit? What about adding a resistor to each side of the pot? Would it just have less boost and cut? I tried finding info on the net, but to no avail. Cheers.

The 10k pots should be OK. I would opt for the 2x9V battery setup for better headroom and eliminate the 10k resitors between the battery terminals. If you have 10 pots why not make it a 10-band EQ, the parts values are in the table

While im by no means an expert i am under the impression that the value of the pot combined with the values of caps arround the feedback loop determine the corner frequency of the EQ filter , by changing the pot value you will be changing the corner frequency of the filter ......

Like I said , im no expert but that is the impression i get ......

I have 12 1K pots, but only 5 10K pots, and I can only find rotary pots of the right value in NZ, I think I will be alright with just a 5 or 6 band EQ, as long as I select the right frequencies. I am going to power this with a PSU, can anyone suggest a simple design for this? This will hopefully eventually be in a case with a Valve Preamp and a compressor, once I get enough money and figure out how to do it. I am a newbie at this, I appreciate all the help you guys are giving me, cheers.
