Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors - What are they good for?
Could someone please elaborate on the places someone would want to use a multilayer ceramic capacitor?
Just to be clear, I am not talking about standard ceramic capacitors!! ONLY MULTILAYER!!!!! |
Parallel to a wound cap to extend frequency range above what the inductance of the wound cap will support.
In digital PCB's next to the IC's on power supplies. Near fast slew rate op amps on the power supplies to keep them from oscillating. Also a small one across the feedback resistor, though these small ones might not have a lot of layers. As coupling caps where one is totally fed up with a lousy quality and short life of the tantalums one has been sold, the space is tight, and the voltage swing is low enough you can overpower the non-linearities of ceramic with a high voltage rating cap. |
