Hi,
Today I got this switched mode PSU. It'sin a L shaped thick aluminium platform from Fenwall Controls of Japan, and it delivers 60VDC, 1.92 A. It is quite well built so I think that the parts are good. As 60VDC are no use to me, I will dismantle it. there are 2 1200uF/250 VDC Nichicon Hu3 electrolytic. Also it has 2 big yellow Nichicon 4.7uF (K)/400W.V DC: are these good for signal levels or psu bypass? They ar 4cm long, 2cm heigh and 1.5cm thick. apart from a number of small toroid type inductors, it has one large inductor (I think), like EI txs. Can this be used at, for instance 300VDC? Any way to tell, before breaking my tube pre PSU? Thansk Miguel |

The chokes are only useful for HF action, namely filtering (the exception being the inverter transformer itself). You could put them in your amp for hash filtering if you want.
The caps are quality, should work very nice for filtering. Electrolytics are generally not accepted for coupling, but you can use them for that if you want. Tim |
