Default Check out local universities

See if there are any local univeristies that you could use their machine shop. (although you might have to take a class first + pay money, it could pay off for future projects. All assuming you have time which you probably don't if your like most people)

That sounds really expensive for aluminum stock. I got enough 1/4" to make quite a few fairly large cases for around 100 dollars (It was about 4ft X 4ft square).

Luckily for me I have access to my school's machine shop 24-7. Yay for being a full time student. Unfortunately for me, I suck at it and it takes me forever to make stuff. This is not to say that I don't enjoy every minute of it though.
