Further into the replacement of the 40409/10 transistors onto the heatsinks< is there a heatsink compound that needs to be painted between the bottom of the transistors and the heatsink surface? What is that compound? lizo

These transistors come welded to a heatsink. I don't understand the question.

Well, thermal paste is usually used to easy heat transfer from thr transistor capsule to the heathsink, but in this specific transistor I think You don't need it.
