Default Where to buy .. potentiometer that is harder to turn

Hello,

I have a quite heavy potentiometer knob (made of solid brass) and I need a single potentiometer for it. In fact the knob is so heavy it almost works like a fly wheel. I like the feel of turning the volume and this is too easy turning.

Resistance is no matter since it is read by an ADC.

Is there any potentiometers with eg. adjustable clamp, or anything that could be used?

Thanks

Bob Mackie in the Tapco days used to pack the pots with heavy grease to make them harder to turn (to make them "feel" good)... On the other hand you could mill out the inside of your solid brass knob (since no one will ever see that side) to make it have less mass.

If you can mount the knobs close enough to the panel, cut a washer out of felt and slip over the shaft before the knob goes on. The knob would then have the felt behind it creating drag. Just like the felt clutch discs on a cassette deck reel holder.

Could you drill a quarter inch hole in the knob, and put a spring and bearing into the hole which would drag on the front panel? It will mar the front panel, but might be an elegant solution.

The drag mark from the bearing would of course be hidden by the knob itself.

No, i do not have the mill and can not modify the knob with precision so I have to do something with the potentiometer shaft.
