Default 50K Linear Taper pnl and pc mount pots?

I'm doing a Baxandall tone control project with Vishay Spectrol/Sfernice P9 series pots, 50K linear, but all the usual part sources in the U.S. (Digikey, Mouser, Newark, Allied) are on the verge of running out of these pots and they aren't reordering more, and yet nobody has labelled it "obsolete". I was hoping to offer this project as a product avail to the public, but I'm not sure what parts will be available and how I should lay out the circuit boards. I need the pots to be panel mount, and PCB mount (Rt angle so PCB extends back from front panel). It would be nice if they were not much more than about $10-15 each.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

thx

Write to Vishay and ask if they can provide contact info for a reliable distributor of their P9s, or their advice on a part # to use for new designs.

Most commercial gear that uses pots has them made to order. You won't be able to buy 10 of them, but in production, if you want 1000 of something, you order what you need, and they make them for you. Fender or Peavey or whoever do not find their pots on the shelves of some supplier.

And I can't speak for the distributors, but obsolete means a part will no longer be made. But the one you want may be something no one buys, so they don't stock. But if the pot is part of a series, then the series may well still be in production, just not the particular configuration you want. Thus not obsolete.
