Paper in Oil caps - any good?

Hi All,

I'm in the process of buildig a P3a amp from ESP & looking on e-bay for power caps, etc. How would these work for an input capacitor? I know Rod Elliot himself uses paper in oil caps for that purpose, but these were designed for Ham Radio.

Only you can decide if PIOs are to your liking. Opinions are highly polarised. I would rather live with a cheap PP than a PIO.

I was in 2 minds anyway, but since I bought my heatsinks in e-bay I keep checking for the odd component.

That's not a good way to make up your mind. You may well like the sound of PIOs, many people do.

Sorry, should have explained more. I'm on a tight budget until it's built & working so I don't want to buy something that "may" be better than the polypropylene ones from RS. My sources are about as limited as my budget due to buying only a few components at a time.
