I have a few parts in my Junk Box which I am not sure about. I know the function of some of these (capacitor, resistor, etc), but I am not sure about the type.
I am not as interested in exact values because I can measure them. I am more interested in the qualities and features of each part (ie: poly film capacitor vs tantalum vs electrolytic, etc). Can any of you Gurus help me out? Info on each part: A. About 3/8" thick. No markings other than the colors. B. No Markings C. Very round. Marked with: "47-16", "++2" (The 2 is enclosed in a circle) D. Very thin. Marked with: "K75U", "685Z", "50V" E. About 1/4" thick. Marked with "WIMA", "0.1", "250-", "F8" F. Obviously a resistor, but what kind? Markings: "8412", "Dale", "RS-2B", "4.5K 1%", "3W" G. About 3/8-1/2" thick. Markings: "3,3uF 100 - 5% A D5", "WIMA MKC4-SV21" H. Very thin. Shiny. Markings: "1979" (perhaps a date code?.. ) "LIBERTY" I. Square (same thickness and width). Markings: "50", "1826", "9510". On top the value is shown as "3,3K" |

A. I've never seen anything like it
B. ditto C. 0.47uF 16V tantalum capacitor, the + shows polarity D. 6.8uF 50V capacitor (not sure if it's ceramic or not) E. 0.1uF 250V capacitor (polyester film?) F. 4.5k 1% 3W resistor G. 3.3uF 100V capacitor (polyester?) H. 1979's equivalent of 2011's dollar I. 3.3k ohm power resistor ?? A & B look like mylar capacitors but I'd need to find a cap color code chart to guess a value. |

G - pretty well Marked WIMA cap, check their site for details. I think metalized polyester cap. I - looks like my Vishay Roederstein 1uF caps. |

A and B,
I always knew them as Mullard C280 series, also well known as "liquorice allsorts" or "candy stripe" capacitors.

D is an Aerovox gold 50V ceramic cap. 685 is 68x10^5 pf, or 6.8 uf. Z5U is a type of dielectric, a more temperature stable one than CoG. Z is a tolerance, +80-20%. About a $7 cap, if you can find one stocked. I've got 4.7 uf and 10 uf COG's.
