US source for thick acoustic felt (box lining)? The good black stuff thats like 5/8" thick.

Probably not the lowest price, but if all else fails try McMaster-Carr, "Industrial Felt Pads".

30+ years ago my employer used coffin lining. I never made any measurements and I have no idea what they use now in that industry. E

I second McMaster-Carr - great service and decent pricing, given that a DIY'er is nothing more than a "nickel and dimer" to them.

I use 2 layers of koi pond underlayment - just glue it together and on with 3M spray adhesive. It ends up about 1/2" thick. Flat black, works great and very inexpensive. You can get it at any pond supply place.
