Hi there,
anyone know of a source for 230V primary / 6.3V secondary heater transformers in Germany or Europe? Most electronics distributors only sell 6V - dedicated heater transformers are only offered from high-end audio shops with slightly elevated pricing ![]() Ideas? Thanks, Andreas |

Andreas,
I make them, but they are indeed more expensive. What you could easily do by hand is take a toroid with a 6 V secondary, and add some extra windings (check the right winding direction otherwise you will lower the voltage instead of raising). Choose the right wire for the current. |

Or, of course, a toroid with more than 6 V and remove some secondary windings.

Or use a regulator and drive heaters with DC.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by expensive - only having used one supplier I don't really have a nose for these things! Bluebell Audio is the only supplier I've used for my projects as I've always found the prices reasonable and the advice so freely given that I've no desire to go elsewhere. 6.3V transformers are about £13 there. Looking on the VVT website it seems they're about £25, £16 if buying two.
