As part of moving I have been going through all my parts and storing them more effectively and I found this oddball in my random tubes box:
http://i.imgur.com/LM9cg.jpg It has a standard intermediate base; the top electrode is a straight piece of wire in a uranium glass seal. It is difficult to see inside the bottom due to the blackening, but there is some sort of mesh structure near the base, and the glass appears to fold down inside the wide part at that line before it narrows into the spiral. The only markings are a yellow "26" and "MADE BY SYLVANIA", the others are all worn off. I have no idea where this guy came from but I would love to know what on earth it does. |

I have no clue, maybe some sort of Geissler Tube? The structure definitely strikes me as some sort of gas-discharge tube.
