Hey all, I am looking for 18g solid core teflon insulated copper wire. Anyone know of an inexpensive supplier? I have been looking for a while with no luck. Do not want tinned or silver coated, most I find seem to be one of those two.

It will be nearly impossible to get Teflon on bare copper because of the way the wire is made. You'll want to get solid, bare copper and Teflon sleeve to construct your own.

Sorry to contradict you SY but there is a source indeed. ~Welcome to liveacoustics.com.sg~. These guys are based in Singapore. I have dealt with them several times, ordering just the wire in question. They are totally honest, fast and professional.

The picture they show does not appear to be Teflon, their claims notwithstanding. TEW CSA 600V 105C is usually a high temperature vinyl.

I bought off the reel from them and while I could be mistaken, it certainly looked and acted like teflon. Extreemly tough and hard to get off. If I'm mistaken, I was mislead and appoligize. Easy enough to send them a mail. They are quite responsive and eager to please.

Teflon can't be applied to bare copper (I don't remember the reason why). Copper has to be plated with silver before putting the teflon on.
So if your wire is copper under the insulation, then its not teflon. |

BWP....
I have stock on the 18 Awg Solid core Teflon/PTFE but silver coated at .35ft... Why would you not want it silver plated and just bare wire, I have never seen it in my searches for wire. What would be an advantage? or disadvantage ? Steve @ Apex Jr. |

I stand corrected. No reference on the wire. No silver plate. Very thin tough insulation. Good wire, good service. What can I tell you? Quiry him.

In States Homegrown Audio has solid core OFHC-copper with clear FEP-insulation. They also has same stuff with cotton on it. Unfortunately they donīt have 18AWG, only start with 22AWG.
