Default NPC SM5842APT digital filter

Hi,

I got some NPC SM5842APT digital filter, don't know its difference bet. SM5842AP. Can they be used on same situation? I am using it on PCM63PK based DAC, the schematic shows the SM5842AP. I spent EURO$35 for SM5842 but I get SM5842APT, can I just use this SM5842APT in this case?
This chip is so expensive...

Hi,

For my understanding, the "APT" version can accept a higher clock input. Of course you can direct substitue the AP version.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

ps. just curious, how much you spent for the 5842?

Yep, higher clock is about it.

If you think that it is an expensive chip.............

Default Since you do think it is so expensive.....

What is so special about that one that you can not use the '5843 instead?

It is very close in performance, and much less expensive. Well, they are to me, at least.

mdlover, jacko, thanks a lots

I bought an ASRC Jitter free DAC pcb from a man named Richard Lim from the USA few years ago. This DAC was the first version made by Richard. I installed SM5843 when the time I built it. Now I have a chance to replace SM5843 with higher grade version SM5842.

I did it as you said about the spec and subsitution of AP and APT. Yes, a slightly but noticeable improvement of sound is experienced. The major improvement is the clarity of sound and stage.

I don't know if this improvement worth of the money or not. The cost of these chips I paid were:

SM5842APT 35 EURO
SM5843AP1 15 EURO

Quantities more than 10 or 20 (I forgot) get 5% to 10% discount. May be it is cheaper in other places.

BTW, who knows how to contact Richard Lim? He seems disappeared from the net. I was told that he made some newer version of ASRC Jitter free DAC after the first version was released.

alean:

As I posted in the subject of TDA1541A/S2 . The one I found and was trying to offer is printed "S1" and two/double crowns.

I stopped offering this chip although that I personally believe it is genuie not fake one. But I don't know the difference between TDA1541A/S1 double crown and TDA1541A/S2 double crown.

If you still want the TDA1541A/S1 double crown just let me know.
