Default Amp chassis in Australia?

Wonder if anyone knows good places to pick up enclosures here in Australia. Mouser etc carries plenty and those Hammond walnut sided babies look pretty damn fine at $100 a piece but the only alternative seems to be fairly ordinary boxes from jaycar etc.

Does anyone have supplies in Au they can recommend or overseas suppliers who don't gouge too badly on shipping?

Cheers,
Graeme

I tried the one from Jaycar, a 2U steel/aluminium rack chassis. It's not looking too bad, kind of old school. Payed about $115. Overall fair.
The aluminium panels are a bit flimsy. The front panel is holding in place with only 4 screws at each corner so there's some slack. Also, if you make a non-symmetric drilling layout on the rear panel, mind you cause the screws holes "in the middle" are not exactly in the middle...

Cheers,

Altronics has some as well and better than the Jaycar ones. There are some in NZ but can't remember the supplier.

Default enclosure source

get acquainted with a mechanic/electrician/janitor that can dumpster dive for you at any factory, especially a food plant. The washdown procedure of a food plant destroys a lot of electronics that go right in the dumpster. Lots of cool stainless enclosures, sealed switches, short dated extreme quality electrolytics in washed motor drives, big heat sinks. NEMA 12 enclosures are rainproof, not proof against 600 psi washdown hoses. You might have to buy someone an occasional beer or something.
