Anyone feel up to identifying the diode I need? I've attached three .jpg files containing the power board schematic of a Philips HTS3357 surround sound system that someone gave me. It won't power on. The zener(?) diode, ZD908, is burned and broken and I want to replace it.
Don't be too tough on me. I have no clue what I'm doing. I just figured since the unit didn't cost be anything, there would be no harm in trying. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help. Thanks, Connie |

A schematic diagram would be helpful. Zener diodes often have clues in their type number as to their characteristics. Perhaps that's a 9 Volt? Google it to see. Replace it with the same voltage, and at least as much power rating.

Schematic didn't blow up enough for me to see the numbers. If you can download the datasheet for that IC the zener is attached to by putting the number in datasheetcatalog.com, then maybe that datasheet will tell you what is expected to go on pin 11-12 of that IC.

For me me, it looks like it is part of the regulated supply. 5, 12 or 27 volts.
Trace the circuit and find out if it is. Then it is easy to know the value. Gajanan Phadte |

On the schematic it clearly states 12V right above ZD908. Just pick a 12V zener diode with the same size (package dimensions).
