I'm going to be building a leach amp clone here soon, it will be the 12 transistor version in the group buy. I plan on running regulated supplies and a friend is going to get me some good deals on transformers. Basically I'm wondering what VAC the transformers should be? I'm going to build 2 mono blocks with 1200VA transformers and I'd like to have ~90V supply rails for the monoblocks. I'm also going to build a 3 channel version with a shared supply. This one is going to have 6 transistors per channel. I was planning on running a 40VAC transformer when I was thinking about going non regulated, so curious what I'd need for regulated? Would going up 5VAC be enough for these?
The way I understand it is that the voltage should be a bit higher then what I plan to use so that I can regulate it down to the voltage I need. Thanks for any help. |
