Can anyone identify what mounting hole I need for these potentiometers?

Sorry can't for the life of me identify what hole I need to drill or press to get these parts on to an enclosure:
VISHAY SPECTROL|14910F0GJSX10104KA|POTENTIOMETER, 1W SINGLE 100K | Farnell United Kingdom

BI TECHNOLOGIES / TT ELECTRONICS|P231-QC20AR100K|PANEL POT, 100K LOG 24MM | Farnell United Kingdom (Shaft diameter 6.35?)

For the Vishay, I'd recommend starting off with a 5mm drill bit, seeing if it fits and then if not enlarge the hole until it does. You can always take away material, but never add it back on .

For the BI Technologies pot., I'd start with a 6mm bit, see if it fits and then, if not, move up to a 6.5mm bit. This might provide a bit of clearance round the hole but that doesn't matter.

It's not a stupid question, the datasheets aren't exactly clear about the diameter of the hole cutout. Farnell's product page doesn't help much either, as the data on there it only extracted from the datasheets.

have a look at those datasheets. The vishay has a 1/4" and the BI a M8 thread.
Me would try a 6,5mm drill for the vishay and a 8mm for the BI or 8mm for both, as I don't have a 6,5mm drill at home.

edit: the BI datasheet contains a drill scheme calling for 8,5 and 2,8mm drills

Oh sorry, I only looked at the first two pages of the BI datasheet and didn't see the panel mounting drawings on the last page . Yes it does need an 8.5mm cutout.

I think I own every drill bit ever made, but for some reason I never have quite the right size. The cure is to keep a tapered reamer around for touching up chassis holes to a perfect fit.

On the BI Tech pot. A normal round hole sized IAW the datatasheet will be sufficient,
but, on the Vishay it looks like you can take advantage of more secure mounting if
you get a properly sized "D" punch.
