Default Capacitor or not?

I have a part that seems to be a capacitor, it has a value of 4700nf 400V and a SUPRESSOR written in it, could someone confirm if its a simple capacitor or a special purpose one?

It might be a just a capacitor, but it is more likely to be a capacitor with a resistor in series - perhaps 100 ohms or so.
These are most often fitted across switch contacts to reduce interference and prolong contact life.

Cheers,
