First Solid State Amateur Radio Transceiver from SBE, Model 33
SBE's SB-33 (SB33) from 1963 is called the world's first practical transistorized amateur radio transceiver (SBE stands for Sideband Engineers INC.).
It is known as the first practical transistorized rig; one of the important milestones of the amateur equipment history. Inside is a single ended Class A not OTL audio ouput stage, equipped with the germanium TO-3 type 2N301. First Bruns Guitar Amp without tubes - Burns Orbit 3 Orbit III Orbit Three
The Burns Orbit amps were a first in early British solid state amplification. In the power stage works an OC-35 from Mullard/Valvo. In 1963 this transistorized amp was more expensive than a new tube equipped Vox AC-30.
