Default Source for leather for baffles

Hi,

I'm building some GR Research N2x speakers into an enclosure which has the baffles as a separate piece that fits into a cavity on the front of the speaker. I was thinking of doing a black textured leather baffle. Can anyone point me to where I might be able to source some leather for that at reasonable cost?

Cheers
Will

Tolex from Antique Electronic Supply may be a little more reasonable. I've used it for speaker baffles and I think it looks fine. How big are your front baffles?

Thanks John - great lead - my baffles are only 16x9 so this would be very manageable.

Cheers

If there's something like that around you you could try a supplier for book binders. I've covered some books with leather and it's a wonderful material

Car seat cover places often have dribs & drabs of leather left over. A guy in Hemmings Motor News sells whole colored hides, but I think you want less than that. You don't have your location listed, there is a shop in Friendship IN that makes custom moccasins. There is an RV/trailer surplus place in Indiana RV and Auto guide that has perforated motor home seat cover blanks. They don't deliver the magazine here anymore so I can't give you the number but they are on-line.
