Recommend Booster Caps for PSU
In the PSU of my Delta 1010 sound card, there are two 470uF 63v booster caps in the rectifier circuit that are prone to get very hot. Due to the heat, these caps are often the first to go bad in the Delta 1010. I think they are starting to go bad in my unit so I would like to replace them. They are the common type of polarized electrolytics. Do you think I should replace them with solid caps (which I heard are more sturdy)? What capacitor type, brand, etc. would you suggest?
Also, I guess that high ripple current and temperature ratings are of primary importance in the choice of this cap, but what about low ESR? Is low ESR important too? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
