Default Best electrolytic SMD/SMT Caps Capacitors - Devices for Surface Mounted Technology

Mr. Nelson Pass start this tread in september 2009:
Best electrolytic capacitors
Here are not SMT capacitors - only such outlines with screw or solder terminals

Now I start the same thread here, but concerning only the not leaded outline for the surface mounted technology.

By repair service I observe often swelled tops by SMT caps like that one from the attached photos. In the moment by the main PCB of Pioneer's DVD player DV-717 (DV717) I discover several 4V SMT caps that have get swelled tops.

The problem by the most SMD/SMT electrolytic caps is, that I cannot find a logo to get conclusions about the manufacturer brand. An additional problem is to identify the correct polarity. The black marking is sometimes for the negative polarity and sometimes for the positive.

I want to know brand names for top quality caps in the outline like that from the photos.
Who can give me therefore some advices?

I work in broadcast and we are not interested in 'best sound' (particularly the ones in the video areas) from capacitors. We look for the longest life expectancy. For low ESR and long life I use mostly Panasonic FK series caps from DigiKey. Look closely at the basing and you'll find the square end is always negative while the positive end has chamferred corners. I haven't yet discovered how to post a link in here or I would do that for you. I CAN tell you that if you use the Digikey on-line catalog and get down to individual part numbers, they have a link to the manufacturer data sheet which is very clear as to which terminal is which.

I typically stock the highest voltage for a given value and SIZE (A,B,C,D,E,F) so as to reduce inventory. It's fine to use a 35V cap to repace a 16V cap though obviously the reverse is not true. Nichicon has good caps though they tend to cost a bit more and don't function any better so I only buy Nichicons if there is no Panasonic available.

As for which brand was originally used, who cares? It wasn't any good or you wouldn't be replacing it. Except for really expensive gear, they buy like I do but they are primarily into price and will it work long enough to get past the warranty period.

thank you for your statement. I think you mean this caps:

The long life version of Arcotronics SMD could be also a good choice:

Those Panasonics are the ones I mostly use. I had never heard of Arcotronics but I have bought 20,000+ caps (mostly Panasonic) over the years so I have a pretty good reference point at least for reliability. FWIW for through hole I use Panasonic FM, FC if not available in FM, and much less frequently Nichicon PW which appear to be very similar to the FC caps.

The red caps with the small 'F' are Fujitsu, Asus uses them on all their motherboards in 'middle' and 'premium' ranges.
