Default Good source for MAT01 MAT02 matched transistors

I have found a great source for the precision matched transistors MAT01 and MAT02. Both are NPN pairs, the MAT02 is ultra low noise (0.85nv/sqrtHz typ) and great for use in the input of a MC preamp, the MAT01 is not as low voltage noise but for lower current applications (better GBW and current noise than MAT02), more appropriate for a MM preamp, or either could be used in the input section of a power amp.

The only issue is you must desolder them from the boards, not too hard if you have good soldering skills (use solder wicking braid and plenty of flux). I pulled six MAT02's off so far and they all tested good for gain.

You can buy these boards from bgmicro in the USA (website easy to google) for about ten US dollars each. Look under monthly specials or misc ICs. At these prices you can parallel the MAT's for even lower voltage noise.

Board stock number ICS1031 has qty 4 MAT01AH and qty 2 MAT02EH
Board stock number ICS1032 has qty 6 MAT02EH

Note both MAT parts are metal can and the premium grade with better DC specs. They are very hard to find anymore, probably only special order from Analog Devices where you can find the data sheets. Also check out the SSM2210 (=MAT02 but in DIP package) data sheet from AD for more design applications.

Both boards are Fairchild boards (no idea what they were used for but could be aerospace as they came from Houston) and full of other parts such as DACs, opamps (nothing really special though), etc. The other parts on them that are normally expensive and may be useful are lots of tantalum bypass caps and some 0.01% resistors.

Smile MAT02AH and MAT04EY

I have a stock of 95 MAT02AH and 93 MAT04EY left over from days when I used to make low noise amplifiers. They are brand new from Analog Devices.

Anybody interested please let me know.

Dear Geof - I suppose it is a long shot, but do you still have the 93 x MAT04EY devices.
Thanks,
Allan
