Has China managed to corner the entire world market on 2mm x 5mm diffused white LED's?
I don't really care to deal with nameless, faceless Chinese companies and am hoping to find someone in the US who stocks these. Thanks! se |

Thanks, Steve!
Not sure how many I'll need. It will depend on whether or not I'd be able to string them together end to end on the 2mm side and be able to get consistent lighting between units when butted up against some white diffusing plastic. They're to illuminate a 2" long by 1/16" wide slit in a faceplate for power on indication. So if I'll need to run them side by side instead of end to end, I'll need at least 50 of them (there are two chassis). Last night a friend of mine found someone on eBay auctioning a bag of 200 blue ones with a starting bid of $25 so I'm going to see if I can snag those for a decent price. How many would you have available to sell if I don't get the blue ones? se |

You would most likely get a much more even distribution of the light, if you used an acrylic light guide. It is easier than you might think.
A 2mm sheet of acrylic, will sure get you there. I have made something similar for my new amps, to avoid irregular light intensity over a surface of like 6dm2. Magura

Maura is correct. You also do not want to butt the LEDs up to the plastic because even the diffused ones will show as distinct spots. I can easily supply 50, either white or blue.
