I hereby want to share my most recent experience buying goods from Fairchild direct.
In the best spirit of trying to avoid Chinese fakes, I ordered transistors worth 15USD and in the following E-Mail they sent me, they said that the freightcost were yet to be calculated.
A couple of days later I recieved another E-MAIL with the total cost.
The 15USD+109USD for freight by Fedex, for something that would cost around 10USD with USPS. We are talking about a handfull of smallsgnal transistors I could have made a lot of Chinese blu smoke for that amount.
Let this serve as a warning to everyone outside USA who will get the same brilliant idea when buying trannies.
If I can save somebody elses budget with this, my money isnt all wasted
