Of most models I don't know what is here to prefer and to avoid.

Thank you very much for your comments.

The decisive factor here will be the quality of contact material that need to process the voltage flash of inrush currents - especially by large main transformers - so I think.

A plain 10A relay works better than any switch I know of, so why use a switch?
Magura :)

For new projects the royal way. But to replace cheap and worse versions in existing audio components against that one of higher quality usually associated with too much trouble causes through various modifying.
Therefore I prefer there the kind of switches mentioned at post #1, but in "long life" and high quality versions.

Dagen: Honeywell AML34/36 is a good advice - thank you

Push-button switches of excellent quality are manufactured by EAO in switzerland. Their series 04 offers even aluminium front rings and buttons. Hard silver contacts for high reliability and high current rating. Nice parts that make the use of auxiliary power supplies to power relays completely unnecessary.

Contact EAO and ask for their nearest dealer as EAO is not available at the common distributors.

Have fun, Hannes

This is the brand, inside by old Naim Audio power amps like NAP160 and NAP250 (formerly LUMITAS as I know). Expensive, but I must never replace this switches by service - therefore one can assume very high reliability and life time.
Pushbuttons, push buttons, 8mm 16mm 22mm Push button switches, illuminated switches, LED pushbuttons
Thank you for this advice.

Thank you for this advice. This kind of switch are the so called "Rocker" - or "Paddle" switches. From this switches there are to find the widest range of brands. Therefore, I have not included these manufacturers in the overview here.
Especially in cases, where arises very high inrush current peaks while "switch-on" (large toroidal transformers without inrush current limiting e. g.) I need very robust switch contact materials to enhance the lifetime and reliability.

What brands of rocker (paddle) switch are here the highlights? The optical outline by such switches are the same than by that one in cheap version - therefore the highlights are hard to find for me.

Therefore the contact material is very important. Which of the follow is here the best ?
Ag & Ag Alloys

Ag/SnO2
Ag/ZnO
Ag/CdO
